Android and iOS are the two juggernaut platforms in the mobile world and they both are mature and feature-rich operating systems. So, obviously, both platforms pack in their own unique features. We have used both Android smartphones and the iPhone extensively and if there’s one thing we really love on the iPhone is the global (mostly) swipe-back gesture. While Android fans might argue that the back button on Google’s platform is very easy to reach, unlike in iOS. However, believe it when we say that a gesture really makes up for a great user experience. In this guide, we will teach you on How to enable the iPhone X Swipe to Go Home Gesture Feature on Any Android.

With the new iPhone X, Apple introduced a buttonless design for the first time. But without a home button, navigation within iOS 11 had to change to accommodate the new model. To solve this issue, Apple created gestures to perform the actions that the home button once executed. But while Apple users have to wait until November 3 to use these gestures, you can get these features right now on Android.

You can use the All in one gestures app available for free (with an in-app purchase to remove ads) on the Play Store to get iPhone’s back gesture on Android. Also, it’s important to note that the app works on non-rooted devices too. So, here’s how to get the iPhone’s back gesture on Android with the All in one gestures app:

Steps to Use iPhone X Swipe to Go Home Gesture Feature:

  • Firstly, you will have to install the All in one gestures app from the Google Play Store. After you have installed the app, open it and you will be welcomed with the app’s latest changelog. Tap “Close”. Then, you will see the home page of the app with three tabs: Hard Keys, Swipe, Status bar. Turn on the “Enable” option in the “Swipe” tab.
  • After you have enabled the swipe gestures. Tap on the “Left Area” option and select the action “Back“.
  • The app will then prompt you to enable the app in Settings->Accessibility. Just tap on the prompt at the bottom and enable the All in one gestures app.
  • Once done, you will see a slight black shade on the left edge of the screen (as you can see in our screenshots) suggesting you that you can swipe to go back. You can then start swiping from the left edge of the display to go back like you would on an iPhone.

The good news is, the back gesture works on almost all the apps and almost anywhere across the Android UI, unlike the iPhone. While it works like a charm, whenever you swipe back through the gesture, you will see a message at the bottom saying “Back”, which might bother some people. However, we think the message isn’t a deal breaker, as it does not hinder the experience.
